    Intro course yoga

In 9 weeks you’ll get a taste of all forms of yoga. And a lot of our instructors. An ideal start of your USC yoga carreer.

    USC instructors

Multiple USC yoga instructors will be giving this intro course.

    Critical alignment yoga

Critical alignment is a modern method that teaches you how to deal with tension and stress. By critical alignment (chronic) tension in the body is released, joints and vertebrae become more mobile and the body can move freely and strengthen in the right places. We use various tools.

    USC instructor

Katelijn Nieuwenhuyzen is a yoga teacher. She finished the yoga therapy education at the Critical Alignment institute from Gert van Leeuwen.

    Hatha Yoga

Hatha yoga makes your body and mind flexible, relaxed and strong. You don’t need to be flexible. The emphasis is on experiencing the yoga postures (asana’s) and focusing on your breathing. You will learn to do things out acceptation and relaxation, rather than out of the urge to perform. You will develop your muscles, release tension and gain body awareness.

    USC instructor

Lies Holtrop has 40 years of yoga and meditation experience. She became teacher in Traditionele Intregrale Yoga of the Devine Life Society (in Bussum) with Jans de Haan.

Brenda Bood did the Hatha yoga teacher course in India. She got more and more interested in the energetic and therapeutic effects of yoga and took a 3 years course in Transformative yoga. She is now a yoga instructor in different groups and gives workshops to companies and festivals.

    Ashtanga yoga (Power yoga)

    Ashtanga yoga (power yoga)

Ashtanga yoga is about discovering and developing your life’s strength (prana = breath), physically, spiritually and emotionally. Ashtanga yoga is an intensive form of yoga where asanas (yoga positions) are continually connected in an energetic flow on the rythm of your breathing.

    USC instructor

Tineke Veenhof discovered yoga during her studies at the dance academy. She studied yoga at various yoga institutes.

Martine Wieten practices asthanga yoga, which has a ‘mirror function’ and stimulates her to introspection.

    Vinyasa flow yoga

    Vinyasa flow yoga

Vinyasa flow yoga is a physically challenging form of yoga, in which static body postures are fluently alternated on the rhythm of your respiration. During the class you will try to get deeper into the various postures by learning to trust your body and respiration.

    USC instructors

Tineke Veenhof discovered yoga during her studies at the dance academy. She studied yoga at various yoga institutes.

    Deborah Hoeks

In this form of yoga dynamical postures (Yang) are alternated with static postures (Yin). Breathing has a leading role. The Yang part of this yoga form focuses on the strength and flexibility of your muscles; the Yin part more on the connective tissue of joints and your organs.

    USC instructor

Luzmar Izebelle Eckmeijer is an expert in the fields of nutrition, dance and social work. She has a background in raja yoga and has trained in vinyasa flow yoga.

    Yin yoga

    Yin yoga

Yin yoga is the counterpart of Asthanga and Vinyasa yoga. With Yin yoga everything happens slowly and calmly, with time for your body and you feeling ‘in the moment’. Most postures are seated or lying, and will be held for 3 to 5 minutes. This affects your tissue, the more rigid area of your muscles and tendons around your joints.

    USC instructor

    Barbara Falorni

    Slow flow yoga

A soft flowing form of yoga. You move on the rythm of your respiration and you’ll be taking away from one posture into the next in a natural way.

    USC instructors

    Tineke Veenhof

    Raja yoga

The ancient and Royal (Raja) yoga uses eight steps to introduce yoga in your life. You’ll be more in touch with yourself and you will feel more free. Every class you will practice yoga postures and classes will all end with a mental energy excercise and meditation. Every week a different theme.

    USC instructor

Erwin Jager has been practicing Raja yoga for 10 years. It’s his mission to pass on yoga science!

    Yoga dance

Yoga dance invites you to take your asanas from the mat and into space. You will combine the mental side of yoga with the extravagance of dance. You will learn how to be both active and relaxed in your movements.
