You can take boxing trainings at Universum and ClubWest. Men and women train together. There are trainings for both beginners and advanced. For beginners there is a boxing course at Universum.

Boxing at the USC: how does it work?

With a boxing membership you can follow trainings at your level. The course is ideal if you don’t have a lot of boxing experience.

Course

  • The course is given at sportcentrum Universum.
  • The course takes 9 classes of 1 hour.
  • The course is ideal for absolute beginners.
  • The course starts 4 times a year.

Trainings

  • You can take the boxing trainings (of 75 minutes) in Universum and ClubWest with your boxing- or passe-partout membership.
  • With your membership you can also follow the trainings of student boxing club The Noble Art.
  • You can join the trainings all year through.
  • You are welcome to do a trial training, just ask at our front desk before the start of the training.
  • Advanced boxers often participate in the Dutch Students Championships.
  • Advanced boxers also train in the ring.
  • With your membership you can also join the circuit training for combat sportsmen and the free training hours in the dojo. Both are available in sportcentrum Universum.
  • You can choose between a 3, 6 or 12 month membership.

Material

  • A mouth piece is compulsory!
  • For boxing at the USC we use gloves of 16 oz (women 14 oz.) for security reasons. After consultation with the instructor 14 oz. (women 12 oz.) gloves may also be permitted. Lighter gloves may not be used during class. Please purchase your own inside gloves. You can buy these at a reasonable price at the USC sports desk. During the first (trial) trainings and courses you can borrow gloves from the USC. When borrowing, you should purchase inside gloves yourself.

Digital Box Trainer Assistant

At sportcentrum Universum you find the Digital Box Trainer Assistant (DBTA). This unique training apparatus enables you to measure your  maximal punch power as well as your speed of reaction. Give it a swing in the hall next to the fitness entrance!

USC instructors

USC’s boxing instructor at Universum is Stef van Gelderen. Stef is also a fitness and kick boxing instructor at the USC. At ClubWest Victor Bruynsteen is the instructor. Victor also works at the Universum desk and he is a fitness instructor.

The Noble Art is the student boxing club.

Passe-partout

Are you a sports fanatic? Are you interested in various sports? The USC passe-partout is the right thing for you! This membership comprises a whole lot of different sports. Boxing is part of the passe-partout.

Do you want to pay in monthly instalments? That’s possible; for students for memberships from €150,- and for non-students for memberships from €250,-. Check the info and conditions for paying monthly before you fix it at a USC front desk.
